Established in 1903 by seven women students at the University School of Music, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Sigma Alpha Iota’s mission is to encourage, nurture and support the art of music.  Its purpose is to uphold the highest standards of music and to further the development of music in America and throughout the world as well as to give inspiration and encouragement to its members.
